Prepare a filing
Prepare and check a Solvency II workbook
Review a supported workbook or XBRL instance without confusing validation with filing acceptance.
Verify your email once
Choose Get your workbook and results, enter your email and reporting country (or Not sure / another country), and request an access link. Open the email and select Verify and continue within 24 hours. No account is created. The verified browser session lasts seven days. Use Use another email to change addresses; the new address must also be verified.
The workbook preview and example finding are public. Workbook downloads, inspection, conversion and standalone validation require verification. Every finding remains available after verification, without another email gate.
Updates and a request for contact are separate, unchecked choices. Neither is required to download the workbook or receive your results.
Availability and scope
Choose Free tools in the website navigation or footer, or open the Free Solvency II tools card on the Resources page. On a narrow screen, open the navigation menu first. You can also open the tools directly, without signing in. These are SolvencyBridge tools, not an EIOPA service or endorsement. The interface and its on-page checklist follow your selected language. The fixed workbook and original engine diagnostics are in English; regulatory codes and cell addresses remain unchanged. Detailed Help uses the labelled English fallback until a translation has received its required review.
The Instructions sheet shows the SolvencyBridge logo, a website link and Convert this workbook and validate XBRL, which opens the free tool. The links open the website; they do not upload your workbook automatically. Existing v2 workbooks remain accepted.
You can save the current download in LibreOffice and upload the saved workbook. Keep the .xlsx format rather than converting it to .ods. If a workbook is rejected or its worksheet links are broken, download a fresh copy and copy only your input values into the matching cells.
Conversion accepts only the qrs-282-en-v2 workbook: 26 S-template worksheets for base EIOPA QRS 2.8.2-hotfix, for a calendar quarter. It does not include T.99, national or ECB extensions, custom spreadsheet mapping, contextual/mixed layouts, or evidence intake for currency conversions and original-currency breakdowns. Every monetary amount must originally be in the reporting currency. Do not tick that declaration merely because a converted amount is now displayed in that currency.
The separate XBRL checker accepts base entry points for 2.8.2-hotfix and 2.10.0, for QRS, QRG, ARS, ARG, APS, APG, QRB and ARB. An accepted entry point does not mean that its checks completed: use the coverage and status in your result to see what was evaluated. National rules are not evaluated. The upload limit is 20 MiB for both formats. If you select a larger file, the page shows its size and the limit before reading or uploading it. Your selected file and any entered report details stay in the current tab. Choose a smaller file to continue, or open Contact us about a larger file. This uses your verified email and requires separate, unchecked consent to request a reply. The request sends no file, filename or validation findings and does not subscribe you to updates. Contacting us does not increase the limit or promise that we can process the file.
Neither a completed conversion nor passed checks establish filing readiness or authority acceptance.
Quick path
- Confirm that the scope above fits the report you are preparing.
- Download the English workbook and fill only its designated input cells.
- Upload it and select Review workbook. Check the worksheet suggestions, report details and currency, then confirm your choices.
- Select Check and convert. Read the workbook checks or validation result.
- Correct the workbook, delete the previous temporary report, upload the revision and rerun.
- Download the candidate and validation report together; delete the temporary report when finished.
Prepare and convert
Choose Workbook to XBRL, then Download English workbook. Keep the sheet names, headers and hidden technical sheets intact. Use values, not formulas. Blank means absent; enter zero only when it is intended.
The prepared input cells stay editable. Headers, labels and technical cells are protected against accidental edits. Protection has no password and is not a security control. Repeating worksheets have 25 prepared input rows. If you need more, choose Unprotect Sheet. Select only the editable input cells in a prepared row, starting at column B, and copy them into the same columns in the next empty row. Do not select the row number or copy a whole row: that also copies a hidden technical key and prevents import. Replace the copied input values with the new record. Keep column A, the headers and technical sheets intact. You can protect the sheet again afterwards.
Numeric inputs check for numbers; whole-number inputs reject fractions. Date inputs accept calendar dates from 1900 to 9999, including text in YYYY-MM-DD format. These checks allow blanks. Dropdowns retain their available choices. For amounts with more than 15 significant digits, enter text so the spreadsheet does not round them: use a decimal point and no grouping separators. In Excel, a leading apostrophe makes an entry text; it is not part of the stored value. Use a decimal point in numeric text even when your regional settings use a comma; the workbook checks this text independently of those settings.
These are basic entry checks, not EIOPA business-rule validation or checks that totals reconcile. Pasting can bypass spreadsheet checks. Always upload the workbook, correct any import problems and review the online validation result.
Upload your workbook and select Review workbook. The tool reads the designated input cells before asking for report details. This is an inspection of the file, not business-rule validation. The summary counts entered values, including zero; headings, formatting and untouched input cells do not count. It describes the current values, not the workbook's editing history.
Worksheets with data are included. Review the empty worksheets: a blank sheet may still be needed for your report. Choose Not applicable to this report only when that is true. Mark the remaining empty worksheets as not applicable applies that choice in one action; review the list before confirming it. It does not override a worksheet marked Include in this report. You can include an empty worksheet to check an unfinished workbook without declaring it inapplicable. The result lists empty required worksheets and reporting-currency problems. These are preparation checks: no XBRL is generated and the validator does not run until these problems are resolved. The tool does not infer which values are missing inside a partially completed sheet. To exclude a populated worksheet, remove its values in the workbook and upload it again; the tool will not silently discard entered data.
Enter the registered entity name and LEI, financial-statement reference, source reference, source observation time in UTC, and the name of the person confirming the declarations. Choose the reporting currency by searching its code or name. When the reporting-currency cell is filled, the tool suggests that currency; check it before proceeding. It does not infer currency from individual assets. You do not need an exchange-rate source: this workflow does not convert currencies. Confirm that the amounts were originally in the reporting currency, not merely converted into it beforehand. Choose the year and calendar quarter explicitly. The quarter determines the start and end dates; it is not a filing deadline.
Confirm that you have reviewed the worksheet selection and that the empty sheets you leave out are not applicable. You do not need to write a separate decision explanation or rule reference. The tool records your choices and the entered-value counts as your confirmation, not as a regulatory determination. Selecting a replacement file requires a fresh inspection and new worksheet and currency confirmations; your other report details stay in the current tab.
Select Check and convert. Controls show progress and prevent a second submission. Accepted work continues if you leave the tab. A busy or unavailable service does not remove your local form values or selected file. If a temporary job was already created, delete it before retrying. You can cancel an active job with Cancel and delete. During upload, cancellation waits for the server's job reference so that the accepted job can be deleted. If deletion cannot be confirmed, the page says so.
Worked correction example
Suppose your source ledger records a monetary amount as 1250000 EUR. Enter 1250000 in the intended monetary input, not 1250 unless the reporting cell actually calls for thousands. A consistent scale error can still reconcile; successful checks are not proof that the source units were correct.
If you accidentally put the formula =1000000+250000 in the input cell, the portable workbook reader blocks conversion and identifies the sheet and cell. Replace the formula with the reviewed plain value 1250000, save the workbook, delete the old result, select the revised file and run again. This addresses that workbook blocker; the resulting report can still have EIOPA findings. Review and correct those independently. This example does not claim a passing complete QRS filing or a particular EIOPA rule for that cell.
Understand the result
- Workbook needs more information: complete the included empty worksheets and correct any reporting-currency issue. No XBRL or validation report is available for this preparation result. Delete it, then correct the selection or upload a revised workbook and check again.
- Workbook needs correction — no XBRL generated: Use the sheet/cell locations and original diagnostics to correct the input.
- Validation found problems: processing produced findings. The downloaded XBRL is a candidate with a failing status, not an approved submission.
- Checks were not completed: a dependency, engine or other processing step did not complete. This is not a pass and does not establish failed business rules.
- These checks passed: review the exact scope, source data and any accepted exceptions. National checks remain outside scope. Authority acceptance requires the authority's own acknowledgement.
All conversion and standalone validation findings are available after email verification, without another gate. Long finding lists load in batches; the downloaded JSON report contains all findings.
Recognized missing-value and sum checks lead with a plain-language explanation and the referenced table, row and column. For example, rule BV320_1-3 may show Total assets at S.02.01.02.01 / R0500 / C0010 reported as 0, while its components total 1,250,000: an absolute difference of 1,250,000. If Intangible assets at R0030 / C0010 contributes that amount, compare both the total and its components with your source in the same units. The finding does not establish which value is wrong. Do not change the total just to make the check pass. Correct the underlying data and rerun.
Up to three nonzero component values are shown immediately. Expand Show all amounts for every component, including zeros, and Original validator message for the engine's wording. Amounts use thin-space digit groups and a decimal point, without assuming a currency or scale. Labels come from the matching supported workbook release and remain English; unmatched references retain their codes. Checks that cannot be explained reliably say so and retain their diagnostic for specialist review. Incomplete runs and accepted exceptions are not reclassified as failed rules. The saved readable report preserves these individual outcomes and the same guidance shown on screen; the JSON report retains the original diagnostics.
Select Download generated XBRL and download the validation report too. The generated file is still a candidate; review its validation status. For an independent invocation, delete the conversion report, choose Check XBRL, upload that candidate and select Validate XBRL.
Updates and national-reporting help
If you opt into updates when requesting access, confirming the access link also confirms that choice. The initial sequence sends a practical guide after one day and an invitation to discuss national reporting after three days. The sequence stops when you unsubscribe or request contact. Delivery-only users receive no marketing sequence.
The results offer Contact me using your verified email and reporting country. You may add your company and role. Submit the separate contact consent to request a reply; your workbook and findings are not sent to sales. Check the linked coverage page before assuming that a national package is supported. You can make a new enquiry on a later visit. Retrying an unchanged request after a connection error does not queue a duplicate enquiry.
Use the unsubscribe link in an update email, then select Unsubscribe. Older links remain valid during routine signing-key rotation. If a link is no longer valid, reply to the email or contact info@solvencybridge.com to request withdrawal; the team may verify that you control the address. You can also use the contact details on the Privacy page. You do not need to sign in or subscribe again to request withdrawal. The unsubscribe page remains available when the tool is disabled.
Privacy, expiry and recovery
If you allow product analytics, the tool records actions such as starting a run, receiving a result, inspecting a workbook, confirming worksheet choices, downloading an output and opening the national coverage page. A completed run can still have failed checks or checks that were not evaluated; completion is not a passing result. These events exclude your email, filenames, uploaded contents and finding details. You can refuse analytics in Privacy choices and still use the full workflow.
Workbook inspection does not count as a completed conversion or validation and does not send a completion email. Its temporary server result is deleted before the review is shown; the summary remains in your tab.
The team also receives an operational email when a conversion or validation returns a result or an updates subscription is confirmed. These notices contain only the action and, for runs, its broad outcome. They do not identify you or include your files or findings. The separate Contact me request includes the details you explicitly submit so the team can reply.
No account is required. Accepted work continues when you leave the page. On returning with the same verified session, you can reopen your latest result. Completion emails link to the result, including incomplete workbook checks and processing failures. A processing failure does not mean validation found errors; it means the check did not finish. You can save a readable report or failure summary, then retry. If connectivity fails, retry reconnecting before starting a new run. Your entered metadata remains in the current tab.
Uploads are removed after processing. Reports and generated files are stored privately for 24 hours after completion. Delete report revokes access sooner; physical cleanup is retried if storage is unavailable. A result link gives access to that report only. Anyone you forward it to can view it until expiry or deletion. Save the report and any candidate you need before expiry.
Email-delivery failures do not remove the report. Use Email the results link again to request another attempt. This queues delivery; it does not guarantee arrival in your inbox. If the session has expired, verify your email again. Delivery-only contact details are deleted after 30 days without activity. Update subscriptions and explicit contact requests have separate retention rules in the privacy notice.
Before using a candidate
- Confirm release, module, entity, quarter, applicability and reporting currency.
- Reconcile source values and units, including blank-versus-zero decisions.
- Resolve workbook blockers and review every validation finding and exception.
- Rerun after each correction; keep the report with the exact candidate it describes.
- Complete national requirements, review and the relevant authority process separately.
